- His family had to relocate to Andhra Pradesh, where he was educated at Sathya Sai Higher Secondary School, a boarding school, as a child. In addition, he has studied acting with an Andhra Pradesh-based theatre company.

- Critics were outraged by Vijay’s Arjun Reddy in 2017. (2017). According to the YSR Congress Party, Arjun and his co-star Shalini Pandey were caught on camera having a steamy moment and the party filed a complaint about the movie’s ‘obscene’ nature.
- NFIW protested the film as well, claiming it was demeaning to women and an entertainment spoiler for children. K Chandrasekhar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, was also asked to watch and ban the film.
- “In order to make profits, they have degraded women and depicted them in an obscene way,” Andra Pradesh Congress Party Woman wing leader Sunkara Padma Sree said. Infuriatingly large posters of lip ties plastered across city buses and other public spaces are a turn-off. Some of the film’s scenes depicted women as “dumb dolls.”
- Vijay Devarakonda took to social media after senior Congress leader V Hanumanatha Rao tore a poster of his from an RTC bus and wrote the words “Thathayya, Chill.” Despite the ongoing unrest, the film managed to gross an astounding INR 510 million at the box office.
- After Vijay and Rashmika Mandanna locked lips in Geetha Govindam, a second controversy arose in a similar vein (2018). The film’s critics also compared Vijay to Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi.

- Among the donations Deverakonda has made to relief efforts are funds for the families of the Pulwama terrorist attack victims.
- In April of this year, Deverakonda conceived of and established The Deverakonda Foundation, a non-profit. He gave $24,000 to kickboxer Ganesh Ambari, who had just won the Vaco Indian Open International Kickboxing Championship Title 2020, through the Foundation in early 2020.
- Initiatives have been put in place to combat the pandemic crisis of COVID-19. With the help of his Middle Class Fund, the foundation was able to assist 17,000 middle-class families with their basic necessities, spending a total of 1.7 crores (MCF). A total of over 1.5 crores was donated by over 8,500 volunteers to his community effort. The initiative will come to an end on 2 June 2020, as decided by the organizers.
- Deverakonda is well-known for speaking his mind on stage or in interviews, and his 2017 speech at the Arjun Reddy audio launch cemented his fame.
