More Information About

Shakib Al Hasan is a left-handed batsman and a slow left-arm orthodox bowler. In 2019, ESPN World Fame 100 named him one of the world’s most prominent athletes.

Despite being rated as the world’s top-ranked ODI all-rounder at the time, Shakib was not selected by any of the eight teams at the player auction held the following month for the 2009 Indian Premier League, and no bids were made for him. Shakib also failed to find a buyer in the 2010 IPL auction, which was surprising given his prominence in international cricket at the time.

Shakib was signed by Kolkata Knight Riders for $425,000 for the 2011 Indian Premier League. On the 15th of April, he made his tournament debut against Rajasthan Royals. Shakib got a bowling figure of 3-17 against Rajasthan Royals in the 15th match of the 2012 IPL, which is still his best in his IPL career. He was retained by KKR for a fee of INR 2.80 crore in the 2014 Indian Premier League. In 11 innings, he scored 227 runs at a strike rate of 149.34, with his highest performance of 60 off 38 balls.

He only played one match in the 2017 Indian Premier League, against Gujarat Lions at home, where he scored 1* and returned with bowling figures of 0/31. Shakib was classified at the highest base price of INR 2 crore for the 2021 IPL auction, and was later purchased for 3.2 crore (US$450,000) by his former team KKR.

Shakib became the first and only cricketer in history to be listed as the ICC’s ‘No. 1 all-rounder’ in all three formats of the game on January 12, 2015. (Test, One Day International and T20 Internationals).

He became the first cricketer to score more than 6,000 international runs and take more than 300 international wickets in a single country in the third One-Day International against the West Indies.
