Riley Meredith plays for the Australia cricket team. On 10 January 2017, he made his List A debut for Cricket Australia XI against Pakistan during their tour of Australia. On November 13, 2017, he made his first-class debut for Tasmania in the 2017–18 Sheffield Shield season. On 1 February 2018, he made his Twenty20 debut for the Hobart Hurricanes in the 2017–18 Big Bash League season.
Meredith was appointed to a 26-man preliminary squad of players on July 16, 2020, to begin training ahead of a potential COVID-19 pandemic tour to England. Cricket Australia announced the fixtures will take place on August 14, 2020, and Meredith will be part of the touring party.
Meredith was named to Australia’s Twenty20 International (T20I) squad for a series against New Zealand in January 2021. Meredith was purchased by the Punjab Kings in the IPL auction in February 2021, ahead of the 2021 Indian Premier League. On March 3, 2021, he made his T20I debut for Australia against New Zealand.
