Ishant Sharma is an international cricket player who plays for Tests, ODIs, and T20Is. On 25 May 2007, he made his Test debut against Bangladesh as a replacement of the fast bowler Munaf Patel. In the 3rd Test match, Sharma plays again during Pakistan’s tour of India in December 2007 due to the injury of Zaheer Khan, RP Singh, and Sreesanth. He took 5 wickets in this match in Bangalore and this performance received him a place in India’s squad for the tour of Australia.
Sharma made his ODI debut against South Africa on 29 June 2007. In the 4th ODI of the CB Series against Australia he picked up 4 important wickets and he ended the match with figures of 4/38. Sharma won the Man of the Match award for his excellent performance.
On 1 February 2008, he made his T20I debut against Australia.
He plays in the Indian Premier League for various teams such as Kolkata Knight Riders from 2008-2010, Deccan Chargers from 2011-2012, Sunrisers Hyderabad from 2013-2015, Rising Pune Supergiants in 2016, Kings XI Punjab in 2017, Delhi Capitals since 2019. He was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders for the Indian Premier League in the amount of $950,000 and this was the highest-paid amount for any bowler in the tournament.
Sharma married basketball player Pratima Singh on 10 December 2016.
