Edward began his acting career on stage in the play Zoot Suit. In the science fiction film Virus, he played himself. As taciturn police Lieutenant Martin Castillo in the television series Miami Vice, he had a starring role. He also played Commander William Adama in the rebooted Battlestar Galactica miniseries on the Sci-Fi Channel.
James was raised by his great-grandparents because his parents were both working and had separated when he was seven years old.
Olmos aspired to be a professional baseball player and entered the Los Angeles Dodgers’ farm system at the age of thirteen, playing catcher.
When he was fifteen, he changed his mind and decided to pursue a career in acting.
Against his father’s wishes, he joined a rock and roll band and quit sports.
As Julian Nava in Walkout, he played a minor role. He was also the film’s co-producer and director.
The actor played the piano and sang a Spanish ballad in his first film, Virus, demonstrating his past love for music.
He’d been accused of sexual assault on two occasions. He was accused of touching a 14-year-old child in an indecent manner by a 14-year-old girl in 1992. He paid the family $150,000 in compensation for the allegation, although he denied that the allegation was true. In a South Carolina hotel room in 1997, a woman accused him of the same thing.
He is an outspoken supporter of social causes. He used to work as a street cleaner in Los Angeles. He works for UNICEF as an international ambassador. He is a supporter of the SENS Research Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to treating and curing aging disorders. He’d performed a slew of other good deeds as well.
