Dawid Malan plays for England and Yorkshire County Cricket Club. On July 7, 2006, he made his first-team debut against Surrey in a Twenty20 Cup match at The Oval. Malan was the leading run scorer in the Second XI Championship in 2007, scoring 969 runs at 51.00. In June 2008, he made his first-class debut for Middlesex, scoring 132 not out. Malan scored the 24th century in Twenty20 Cup history on July 8, 2008, when he scored 103 off 54 balls in a quarter-final match against the Lancashire Lightning.
In June 2017, Malan was named in England’s Twenty20 International (T20I) squad for a home series against South Africa. On his debut, on June 25, 2017, he scored 78 runs, with England winning the match and Malan win the ‘Man of the Match‘ award for his batting performance. Prior to the third Test against South Africa, he was named to England’s Test squad and made his Test debut as a number 5 batsman on July 27, 2017. He made 1 in the first innings before being bowled out by a yorker from Kagiso Rabada, and he was dismissed for 10 in the second.
Malan began his career with Peshawar Zalmi in the first season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and returned the following season, winning the PSL Final in Lahore. Malan was purchased by the Punjab Kings in the IPL auction in February 2021, ahead of the 2021 Indian Premier League.
