Dan Christian is a right-handed batsman and a right-arm fast-medium bowler. Christian represented New South Wales in List A cricket in 2006 and 2007. He moved to South Australia after not being given a new contract for the 2007–08 season, and soon found himself playing first-class cricket for the state team.
He made his Twenty20 International debut against the West Indies in February 2010 and was a part of Australia’s World Twenty20 squad in 2010. Christian was a member of Hampshire‘s successful 2010 Twenty20 Cup campaign.
Christian was also a member of the Deccan Chargers, a team that participated in the DLF IPL every year and was purchased for US$900,000. He took 5/31 in an ODI match against Sri Lanka at the MCG on March 2, 2012, which included a hat-trick. Despite his outstanding performance, Australia was unable to win the match. For a fee of $100,000, he was signed by the Royal Challengers Bangalore and will play for them in the IPL-6 season.
For the 2017 Indian Premier League, he was purchased by the Rising Pune Supergiants team in February 2017. In the 2018 IPL auction, he was purchased by the Delhi Daredevils in January 2018. Christian was purchased by the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL auction in February 2021, ahead of the 2021 Indian Premier League.
