More Information About
Andrew Tye is a right handed batsman and a right-arm medium-fast bowler. In the BBL|04, he was regarded as a breakout player, with Australian T20 captain Aaron Finch dubbing him the ‘find of the tournament.’ He had a lot of success with the team, and he was a big part of Perth’s second consecutive Big Bash League championship.
Tye was bought by the Chennai Super Kings in the auction for the 2015 Indian Premier League, but did not appear in the IPL until 2017 when he played for Gujarat Lions. On his debut, he took a five-wicket haul, including a hat-trick. Until Alzarri Joseph broke his record with figures of 6/12 against Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2019, his bowling figures of 5/17 were the best by a bowler on debut in the IPL. Kings XI Punjab purchased him in the 2018 IPL auction in January 2018. He went on to win the Purple Cap for taking the most wickets (24) during the 2018 IPL season. He played for Punjab in the 2019 season before being released ahead of the IPL auction in 2020. For the 2020 season, Tye was traded to the Rajasthan Royals. He only appeared in one game for them, recording a 1/50 against the Delhi Capitals.
