Amit Mishra is a right-handed batsman and a right-arm leg-break bowler. In 2002, Mishra was called into the Indian squad for a Test against the West Indies, but he was not chosen. After captain and first-choice leg spinner, Anil Kumble was injured, Mishra made his Test cricket debut against Australia in the Second Test at Mohali (PCA stadium).In Australia’s first innings, he took 5 wickets for 71 runs and then 2/35 in the second, making him the match’s leading wicket-taker as India cruised to victory.
Mishra was a member of the Indian cricket team in England in 2011, where he scored 84 in the last test match. Mishra was named to India’s squad for India’s 2016 tour of West Indies. He appeared in two tests and took six wickets.
During the TVS Cup in 2003, Mishra made his One Day International (ODI) debut against South Africa. Mishra represented India in the 2009 ICC Champions Trophy, which was held in South Africa.
After Harbhajan Singh was rested for the final two round-robin matches on the Bangladesh tour, Mishra played in two ODIs against Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in a triangular tournament. In July 2013, he was called up for a one-day series against Zimbabwe. He was named Man of the Match for his 4/47 bowling against Zimbabwe in the third One Day International on July 28, 2013. With sixteen dismissals in nine matches, he was Haryana’s leading wicket-taker in the 2018–19 Vijay Hazare Trophy.
He became the first player in IPL history to take three hat-tricks when he scored a hat-trick for Sunrisers Hyderabad against Pune Warriors India on April 17, 2013. He previously scored a hat-trick for Delhi Daredevils against Deccan Chargers in IPL 2008, and then again for Deccan Chargers against Kings XI Punjab in IPL 2011. He was called in the Cricinfo IPL XI for his performances in 2013.
In the IPL 2015, 2016, and 2017, he was a member of the Delhi Daredevils. In the 2018 IPL auction, he was purchased by the Delhi Daredevils in January 2018. In the 2019 IPL, he was retained. Mishra got off to a great start in the 2020 IPL, taking three wickets at an economy rate of 7.20. He was, however, ruled out of the IPL after injuring his flexor tendon in his ring finger while attempting a return grab.
