- When the STS-128 mission was selected on July 15, 2008, Fuglesang was chosen as a mission specialist. In order to increase the ISS crew size from three to six astronauts, STS-128 transported new equipment.
- For the first time, a non-American spacewalker completed more than three spacewalks on STS-128. He now has five spacewalks under his belt after completing two additional EVAs.
