Karun Nair plays for Karnataka cricket team in domestic cricket. He was bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League from 2012 to 2013. He also played for Rajasthan Royals from 2014 to 2015 in the Indian Premier League. He was purchased by Delhi Daredevils in 2016 for the IPL. He released by Kings XI Punjab in the Indian Premier League in 2018 and played for until 2020. Nair was purchased by the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL auction in February 2021, ahead of the 2021 Indian Premier League.
