More Information About
Harbhajan Singh is a right arm off-spin bowler. For the 2012–13 Ranji Trophy season, he was captain of the IPL team Mumbai Indians and Punjab. Mumbai Indians won the 2011 Champions League Twenty20 under his captaincy.
Harbhajan Singh spent the entire 2009 Indian Premier League season in South Africa, taking 12 wickets at 21.33 with a 5.81 economy rate in 13 games. He was one of the most economical bowlers in the tournament, taking 1/9 in four overs to capture the man of the match award against Punjab.
Harbhajan was part of an effective Mumbai Indians bowling attack in the 2011 IPL, and he had a largely good season. During the round robin stage of the tournament, he took 5 for, 18 against Chennai Super Kings, the best bowling figures of any player at the Wankhede Stadium in the IPL. The team’s form deteriorated during the playoffs, as they lost back-to-back matches to Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings, preventing them from reaching the final.
He returned to competitive cricket after injuries to lead the Mumbai Indians to the 2011 Champions League Twenty20 championship, but he was dropped by the national selectors. In October, he was not selected for the home series against England, and in November and December, he was not selected for the home series against the West Indies. Under his captaincy, Mumbai Indians secured their first ever trophy, winning the Champions League by 31 runs. For his contribution, Harbhajan was named Man of the Match.
