More Information About

Vijay Shankar plays for the Indian national cricket team. He was named to India’s squad for the  2019 Cricket World Cup in April 2019. Shankar is a three-dimensional player, according to Indian chief selector MSK Prasad at the time. As a result, he has earned the moniker 3D Cricketer from his followers.

In the 2014–15 Ranji Trophy knockout round, he received two man of the match award while playing for Tamil Nadu. He was declared man of the match after scoring 111 and 82 in the quarterfinal against Vidarbha. Although the match was drawn, Tamil Nadu advanced to the next round thanks to a first-innings lead. He scored 91 and picked 2/47 in the semifinal against Maharashtra to earn his second man of the match trophy. This game was also a tie, with Tamil Nadu advancing to the final on the basis of a first-innings lead. He selected 1/92 and scored 5 and 103 in the final against Karnataka. Karnataka, on the other hand, won the tournament by an innings.

He played one match for the Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League in 2014 and four for Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2017. On May 13, 2017, he had his highest batting score of 63 not out against Gujarat Lions. In the 2018 IPL auction, he was purchased by the Delhi Daredevils in January 2018. For the 2019 IPL season, he was traded back to the Sunrisers Hyderabad. The International Cricket Council (ICC) called him one of eight players to watch ahead of the  2019 Indian Premier League tournament in March 2019.
