Bhuvneshwar Kumar plays for Uttar Pradesh in domestic cricket. He is a right-arm fast medium bowler who can swing the ball both ways, with his inswingers being more powerful than his outswingers. He’s also a useful lower-order right-handed batsman.

Royal Challengers Bangalore signed him to an IPL contract during the 2008/09 Ranji season. He was signed by Pune Warriors India in 2011. In 2014, Sunrisers Hyderabad caught him after the dissolution of the PWI team. He was named in the Cricinfo IPL XI for his work in 2014, 2016 and 2017. In 2016 and 2017, he was called to the Cricbuzz XI.

After winning the IPL 2016 with Sunrisers Hyderabad, he contributed to an outstanding season in which he also earned the Purple Cap for taking the most wickets with 23. In the 2017 IPL, he took five wickets for Sunrisers Hyderabad against Kings XI Punjab. Kumar captured the Purple Cap for the second time in a row in the 2017 Indian Premier League after taking 26 wickets.

He was also called in the all-time Cricinfo IPL XI to commemorate the IPL’s tenth anniversary. Sunrisers Hyderabad has retained Kumar for the 2018 IPL season. On March 29, 2018, the Sunrisers Hyderabad named Kumar as the team’s vice-captain for the 2018 season. In the Sunrisers’ run to the finals, he played a key role.
