Shahrukh Khan was named after the Indian actor Shah Rukh Khan. On 27 February 2014 he made his first List A debut with Tamil Nadu at the 2013–14 Vijay Hazare Trophy. In the 2018–19 Ranji Trophy on 6 December 2018, he made his first class debut for Tamil Nadu.
Khan was on the Tamil Nadu side who was on the way to the 2021 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy throughout the whole season. In the Quarter Final vs Himachal Pradesh, Khan contributed an unbeaten 40 out of 19 balls.
In February 2021, in front of the Indian Premier League, of 2021, the Punjab Kings bought Khan in the IPL auction.
