Chris Jordan made his first-team debut for Surrey against Middlesex at Lord’s in August 2007. On his first-class debut, he took 2–41, and in his second match, against Durham, he took 3–42 to help dismiss the home side. In 2007, he was named Surrey’s most promising young player by the NBC Denis Compton Award.

In the 2016 ICC World T20, he was signed as a replacement player for Royal Challengers Bangalore, replacing Mitchell Starc, who was injured. In the nine matches he played, he took 11 wickets. His best stats were 4/11 against the Gujarat Lions. Prior to the 2017 Auction, he was released by the RCB.

Sunrisers Hyderabad, the defending champions, picked him for the 2017 Indian Premier League for 50 lakh rupees in February 2017. In the eliminator, he only got to play one match against Kolkata Knight Riders. He was purchased for 3 crore in the 2020 IPL auction by the Kings XI Punjab ahead of the Indian Premier League.
