Ben Stokes is a left handed batsman and a right-arm fast-medium bowler. Stokes was a member of England’s World Cup-winning squad in 2019, and he was named Man of The Match in the final. For the first Test match against the West Indies in July 2020, Stokes captained the England team for the first time.

Stokes was purchased for Rs 14.5 crore (£1.7 million) by the Rising Pune Supergiants in the IPL on February 20, 2017. Against Gujarat Lions, he hit his first T20 century, scoring 103* in 63 balls with seven fours and six sixes. Before departing for national duty, he was awarded the “Man of The Match” trophy a record three times in 14 games. He was appointed to the Cricinfo and Cricbuzz IPL XI for his performances during the 2017 IPL season.

In 2017, Stokes became the highest-paid foreign player in the  Indian Premier League‘s history, signing a record deal worth $14.5 million ($2.1 million or £1.7 million); he also received the season’s Most Valuable Player awards.

Rajasthan Royals paid 12.5 crores (£1.7 million) for him on January 27, 2018, making him the most expensive player in the 2018 IPL auction. He scored his first century for Rajasthan Royals on October 25, 2020, when he hit 107* in 60 balls against Mumbai Indians, with 14 fours and three sixes, while chasing a target of 196 with Sanju Samson for an unbeaten 152-run third-wicket partnership.

Stokes sustained a finger injury during the 2021 IPL season, forcing him to miss the entire season after only playing one match.
