Sanju Samson became the sixth Indian to score a double century in List A cricket when he scored an unbeaten 212 for Kerala against Goa in the 2019-20 Vijay Hazare Trophy, which is the second fastest double hundred and also the highest and fastest by a wicket-keeper in List A cricket.

In the 2012 Indian Premier League, he was a part of the Kolkata Knight Riders‘ player pool but did not participate. At the age of 17, he became the youngest player to win an IPL title when KKR won the tournament that year.

He was signed to play for the Rajasthan Royals in 2013. After regular wicket-keeper Dishant Yagnik failed to recover from an injury, he made his IPL debut for Rajasthan against Kings XI Punjab on 14 April 2013.

After his former team, Rajasthan Royals, was banned for two years, he was signed by the IPL franchise Delhi Daredevils for a fee of 4.2 crores in the IPL auction in 2016. During the season, he hit 291 home runs. Sanju scored his first T20 century in the IPL 2017 against Rising Pune Supergiant at Maharastra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune on April 11, 2017. With 386 runs this season, he was Delhi’s leading run scorer.

Rajasthan Royals purchased him for Rs. 8 crore in the 2018 IPL auction in January 2018. In the season, he scored 441 runs for Rajasthan, with a best score of 91*. Sanju Samson hit his second IPL century against Sunrisers Hyderabad on March 29, 2019, hitting 102 not out off 55 balls, including 10 fours and four sixes. This was also the first century of IPL 2019 tournament.
