More Information About
Chris Morris made his Twenty20I debut for South Africa against New Zealand on December 21, 2012. Before getting injured, he had figures of 3.4–0–19–2 in that game. In February 2016, he starred in the South Africa-England one-day series, scoring 62 off 38 balls in the fourth ODI to tie the series.
Despite picking up four wickets early in his seven-over spell in a rain-delayed 34-over-a-side game against New Zealand on February 19, 2017, he conceded 38 runs in the final two overs. Morris was named to South Africa’s World Cup squad on 7 May 2019, replacing Anrich Nortje, who was ruled out due to a hand injury. With thirteen dismissals in eight matches, he ended the tournament as South Africa’s leading wicket-taker.
In 2013, he was bought by Chennai Super Kings for the Indian Premier League. He was purchased by Delhi Capitals for the IPL in the season of 2016. He returned to the 2019 IPL for Delhi Capitals, where he helped them reach the playoffs. The Delhi Capitals released him ahead of the 2020 IPL auction. He was bought by the RCB. He became the most expensive player in IPL history, surpassing Yuvraj Singh (16 Crore rupees) when the Rajasthan Royals bought him for 16.25 cores in the 2021 IPL Auction.
After several years of success in the IPL, at the 2016 IPL auction, he fetched more than $1 million. Morris’ best score in all T20 formats came against Gujarat Lions during the 2016 IPL. Morris hit four fours and eight sixes in 82* runs off 32 balls against the Lions at the Feroz Shah Kotla. Morris was retained for the 2018 IPL for 7.1 crore, but was later ruled out due to an injury he suffered during the first few games.
