Axar Patel is an Indian all-rounder player who plays as a left-handed batsman and slow left-arm orthodox bowler.
Patel made his ODI debut against Bangladesh on 15 June 2014 at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium and took 1/59 runs. He was selected in India’s 15-man squad for the 2015 Cricket World Cup.
On 17 July 2015, he made his Twenty20 International debut against Zimbabwe. He was named as a stand-by player for India’s squad for the 2019 Cricket World Cup.
Patel made his Test debut on 13 February 2021 against England and made his return in international cricket after a gap of almost 3 years. In his first match, he picked 5 wickets haul in England’s 2nd innings and becoming the 9th Indian bowler to do so on debut. On 24 February 2021, he took 6 wickets in his second Test at the Narendra Modi Stadium, becoming the Ist spinner for India to require5 wickets during a D/N match game. within the second innings, he took 5/32, claiming his maiden 10 wicket match haul and therefore the best figures during aD/N Test (11/70).
In 2013, he was bought by Mumbai Indians for the Indian Premier League. He was played for Kings XI Punjab from 2014-2019 and had a powerful season with Kings XI Punjab in IPL 2014 with 17 wickets. Currently, Patel is playing for Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League.
