More Information About
- Linda competed in the Miss Teen Niagara pageant in 1981 when she was just 16. However, despite the fact that she did not come out on top at the pageant, she was noticed by an Elite Model Management agent.
- Women all over the world began copying the Linda haircut, which quickly became a cult classic. In the 1990 film Ghost, Demi Moore wore a similar hairstyle, as did Susan Sullivan on the television series Falcon Crest, which ran from 1981 to 1990.
- In January 1990, Evangelista appeared on the cover of British Vogue with Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell, Christy Turlington, and Tatjana Patitz. Supermodels became known as the ‘Original Big 5 Supermodels’ of the 1990s thanks to Peter Lindbergh’s cover shot.
- An interview with Vogue magazine for which Evangelista coined the phrase, “We don’t wake up for less than $10,000 per day,” was published in the 1990 issue. For much of the 20th century, the modelling quote had an unparalleled reputation, and it was often compared to another iconic statement from that century, “Let them eat cake.”
- The popularity of the “…$10,000 per day” line in mainstream media has led to a number of merchandise items featuring the phrase. Mr. and Mrs. Smith, a 2005 film in which Brad Pitt’s character says that he won’t get out of bed for anything under $500,000.
- She appeared on an Ads against AIDS billboard in the early 1990s, where she was seated next to seven older Sicilian women and looked glamorous. Italian women were accused of being stereotypically depicted in the painting, which was titled Beauty and the Seven Beasts.
